I don't usually do this, but I idly clicked on the latest promotional email from REI ("REI-Outlet Mega Deals") and found myself looking at my winter daypack, the REI Talus 50 for a mere $60 (normally $125).
I really like this pack. Plenty of room for the extra winter (dayhike) gear and excellent outside attachments for carrying shoeshoes, skis, poles, ice ax, etc.
