If you have Danner boots, as I have had for almost 20 years, you can send some models (stitched down soles) back to the factory for "recrafting". They are a bit expensive, but the work is excellent:

I'm a believer in resoling and resoled a pair of Vasque Sundowners twice before they were demoted to yard work.

More recently Dave Page resoled two pair of boots, one under warranty and another pair of Vasque Sundowners.

I'm very satisfied with the work.

As an aside, I take good care of my boots ... except the ones used for yard work which don't seem to want to go away ... and frequently clean, condition and waterproof them. Generally, a boot failure to me is when the shank no longer gives my feet adequate protection. I resole when I start to loose traction on rocks and ledges.

... course, all this from a guy who thought Bott Spur was a fott injury.
