Was is the part about the Banana Peel Retrieval Specialists, or the "Banana peels from before 1981 are not degradable" part, that gave you such trouble? ;)
With people's help we can still eradicate RBPT in our lifetime!

OK, OK, we're laughing. But, you must understand that I read a lot of black-helicopter conspiracy stuff on an a daily basis on some "news" sites, and they are deadly serious. You got me...

happy trails :)

LNT is a great, but short-sighted, answer to a very large problem.

LNT is not meant to be an answer to bigger environmental problems. Just to make the forest look "nice" for the next visitor.

I also eat all of those darn plastic shopping bags because I can't figure out what to do with them either. Then I dig a cathole! :D
Eat those plastic bags and you won't need to dig a cathole for weeks ... but be prepared for a really big cathole! Is that the ultimate LNT?

Actually, I admire the advocacy of LNTers but selectively choose what I think makes common sense for given situations and places ... thinking more along low impact. Those that insist on no impact underestimate the resilience of nature.

One can't help but have some impact, the observer always changing the observed in some fashion or another..... that being said I believe the basic concept of leave no trace to be a good one. One can be a fanatic about such things instead of being mindful, which is a problem with many human concepts, theories, and endeavors.

I find when hiking nowadays that there is less trash being left in the backcountry then there was when I was younger, so perhaps the LNT concept has done some good over the years. :)
