Another do-over after an aborted winter hike. In February we made it to just below treeline before turning back. Today started out with a cloud cover after an early morning shower. No views at the first summitting of Saddleback. Just as I dropped down some on my way to The Horn, the skies started to clear and I had a great view of my upcoming hike. Really, some nice views of the ridge between the two peaks going either way. Met a lot of southbound section hikers, most doing just Maine during the summer months. Hmmm, maybe I need a leave of absence next summer. Summitted The Horn and made the trip back to Saddleback under clear skies and views aplenty. Back down to Rt 4 and a nice drive home. What a day!

Nice job Keith. So, which Maine peak will you be finishing your 67 list on????

We also need to re-do the Saddleback peaks. When we did them at the beginning of the summer, we hit them up the ski trail, so the only white blazes that we hit were from the peak to the Horn. We now have to hit it from Rt4 to the trail that takes you to Mt. Abraham.

finishing is a ways off still but I've got in the back of mind saving Katahdin for last. I'll probably never experience the feeling through hikers get seeing the summit sign at the end of their journey but for that to be the symbol of me finishing the 67 would be cool.

AT from Rt 4 to Saddleback is a nice hike, In all my peak bagging, I've only taken one ski trail, much prefer the woods trails
