Rock Pile-Which route would you take?

The Ammo-Jewell route is the easiest and probably offers the best bailout options.

Tuckerman Ravine is the classic which, for the hikers from "away", might be the most memorable. From the top of that trail a trek across Alpine Garden then to the summit with a descent via Boott Spur would be my choice.

If the rockpile is a must, the Ammo-Jewell combo is good, as Tucks is probably still closed.

Anyone have an ETA on when the Tuckerman trail will reopen? It looks like in the past it's been open by now.

A trip report from MWO Forum states they descended from the Lip to the Bowl yesterday. I can't verify this, but I trust the report. Looks like it's open!

You are correct - the trail recently opened, and is in good shape. Still plenty of snow in the ravine.

Did you see the snow arch? Is it still there, or has it collapsed?

I assume you mean the opening where the water from the waterfalls is running through the snow? If so, yes it's still there, sort of as a double arch at this point (with people skiing right over the top to boot!)
