Just as an FYI, be extra cautious when driving the stretch of Route 16 between Chocorua village (Route 113 junction) and Chocorua Lake right now.

Due to the recent melting, a pack of deer has decided to hang out in that area. There have been a bunch of accidents and near misses as a result - in particular, be careful when using the northbound climbing lane - apparently deer are jumping down off the embankment in the blind turn, where the speed limit increases about 20 mph.

If you slow down when driving through the village you might even catch a glimpse of the otter playing on the ice. :)

I look every morning, but sadly, I have not seen him/her yet this year... :(

I have not seen the deer yet either, but thanks for the warning.

I will keep a sharp eye out for them now!

;)

I've seen the deer a few times recently...a few nights ago I was almost in the tail end of a near-three car pile up from them jumping out at the top of that hill on 16. Yikes!
