Two 65-year olds getting back in the saddle again after finishing many lists, Chris B. and I strolled across these three lovely peaks on the southern shore of the big lake. A very pretty 6.2 mile roundtrip. Trails offered many great views of the lake and peaks to the north, including the big W (you'll have to trust us because we had a senior moment before the trip and forgot the camera). No snow-making yet on Gunstock, but other ski season preparations were underway.

Ridge, etc.

What trails did you use and were there any problem areas?

We went up the Ridge Trail to Rowe and stayed on it over to Gunstock. We followed the Brook Trail down from Gunstock to the Saddle Trail to Belknap, then backtracked out. All the trails were in great shape -- they seem quite heavily used. There were a few icy spots on Belknap, but those were easily avoided.

I was up there last weekend. Love that area!
