Chip,
I have about a 5 to 10 second loss of memory, but that's about it. My sister says my eyes were open the entire time, but I recall my vision coming back as though my eyes were opening and feeling like I had been asleep for a while. It was weird, and yeah, I'm glad it wasn't too serious. It was scary and definitely was a reminder to me about how easy it is to have a momentary lapse in carefulness that can be costly.
Hope you can see the pics at home! Thanks for reading :)
Dory
Nice pictures and video. Good job, hope you're feeling okay.

Tmax,
I sure was sorry that you had to leave! I had a picture of you with your arm all slinged...I felt to sad to post it! It was nice to meet you and I'm sure we'll meet again on the trail.
Dory
Hey Dory,
Could you e-mail the pic to me?
I need something to remind me what a great sling-maker mcorsar is :D!

:D Ah! So you were merely a consumer of the wonderful aromas that Pete was dishing out?

Yes Terri, tell us, what happened after you left?

Terri, how about an update on your situation?

Hairline fracture, should heal in no time. One of the perks of the situation...I have become an expert at shifting gears with my left hand, it's surprisingly easy! :D Thanks to everyone at Peggy O for their support and for tolerating my female "machismo." It really is extremely difficult for me to see myself as anything other than the strong independent type or to accept help from others. That is the true lesson of this trip for me. Letting people help me out doesn't make me weak. I was surprised at the distress it caused others when I insisted on "self-rescue" and the relief when I finally relented. Especially for mcorsar, I thought he was going to push me down that mountain when I wouldn't drop my pack;)! I really am grateful for the support and concern and am so disappointed I didn't get to hang with everyone. Can't wait for the next opportunity!

Of interest...
The emergency room Doc said I was the second person in as many days that she'd seen who'd been hiking (and falling) in the Daxs. Given everything else I've been reading ranging from major accidents to lots of bumps and bruises, it sounds like it was a rough weekend .

That's right. Look for the positive. But I'm sure you're finding certain other 'daily routines' that are VERY difficult with the left hand.

Yeah, we missed you.

Not surprizing at all. A lot of ice, with a thin snow cover...

Pete, I still can't believe you carried in a steel tortilla press...did you guys even use that thing? :)
I wouldn't carry something like that and not use it. I used it for two suppers. Enchaladas made with fresh made tortillas, and the last night (you weren't there) was soft-shelled tacos with fresh tortillas. I guess you didn't notice me kneading the dough.

Dory: Wear those bruises as a badge of honor! :)

Pete, what do I have to do to get on a trip with you as the cook?

And Tom, I was born with all this grace...you couldn't be the bad luck! :D

Oh, it's pretty easy. Just be in the right place at the right time, and let me know in advance that you'll be there.

<Salseman hat ON>

One such place would be this summer, the ADK46er trailcrew is having a Women's Only Weekend. The trailmasters (several men) are there only to serve the women. Women do the trailwork. Past two years it was bridge building.

http://newmud.comm.uottawa.ca/~pete/trailwork/wotw/bridge.html

I'll be the cook, and providing a Thai supper consisting of Chicken-galangal-coconut soup, spring rolls, Jasmine rice, Spicy green chicken curry, red vegetarian curry, and a yellow curry. Desert will probably be a birthday cake, since at least two of the women have a birthday that week.

If Amy and I would come that weekend you'd have 4 birthdays on your hands! Where can I find out more information?
