Hi all,

just wanted to mention that the third annual Saddleback Mountain Bluegrass Festival is being held on Friday 10 through Saturday, August 11, at the base of the mountain. There is a good chance that they will not let anyone enter this area without charging them admission.

I was unaware of the Festival last year, but fortunately got there early before they set things up. I had to walk around a bunch of tents down low. Ran into a hiker who got there later that morning who was charged $45.00 admission, even though he stated he was just there to hike. He paid the money, since he drove all the way from Quebec.

Please be forewarned if you are looking to hike Saddleback that weekend.

Marty

Also of interest, I saw this as part of a story on the UL's web site regarding the 75th anniversary of the AT: celebration is planned on Aug. 14 at Sugarloaf Resort in Maine with a hike and an opportunity to sign a special register. For information on the event visit www.matc.org.
