Second time man needs to be rescued by helicopter

I thought you couldn't even get across the river to/from the bus in the summertime, which was what stranded McCandless. How did they even get that far to begin with?

I think it is only uncrossable in springtime (which I think is when McCandless died...not positive since I read the book only once.) **Edit** Nope apparently he died in August. Oh well, I would read the book again if it were not boring.

Besides (and I guess I am wrong) I thought that Alaskan authorities finally got fed up and removed the bus.
