Sherrill
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nice day in the mountains. We climbed from the DEC parking area on rte 42, working our way up until the just below the col. Sidehilled until we hit the spot where the ridge of Sherrill hits the col than stolled up to the top and summit. Little bits of sun hear and there on the way up and the snow was about 1" down low and about 4" of dry and fluffy stuff up high. A little icy here and there underneath, but nothing requiring Stabilicers or crampons.
We walk right up to the cannister and there was a well tromped-down area from a previous party. After a lunch break, it was off by the direct ridge down. Our ascent was by routefinding, but the downclimb was following tracks most of the way down.
Bt the time we hit the summit, it was mostly sunny, and we had the sun right back to the car.
What a nice day in the woods, and Dick, Jo, Bookah and I were happy to have Neil and Holly join us.
I've now hiked with 2 GPS Jedi Knights, Neil and Bushwacker, and it was a ball watching Neil work his GPS magic today. I learned a ton of new stuff.
As ususual, Bookah raced up and down the mountain 3x and gave the day 3 woofs.
35/100 for Boo.
