How about the Israel River Campsite we showered at last year (where Sherpa's parents were there), the owners there seemed friendly, friendly enough to ask anyway...

If you are heading back thru Twin Mountain to I-93 you could go to Lyon's or Lafayette Campground...
I have heard of people taking showers at the Shapleigh Bunkhouse, but it is not allowed.
If you are going back towards Bartlett/North Conway you can go to the Crawford Notch Campground and General Store - they are hiker friendly.

is Lyons still open? I drove by about 2 wks ago & there was (still) a for sale sign & some construction going on in the rooms. I didn't have time to stop & ask what's up, but it looked like they were remodeling the bunkrooms. (to convert them back into normal motel rooms?)

I am not sure...heard about some people staying there about a month ago, but I have not been by there since February. I do know he was trying to sell it.

hummmmmm... not very hiker friendly?

I think it's pretty definate that HC is not really hiker friendly. Probably about as hiker friendly as the Mt Washington Hotel is.

AMC Pinkham Notch has coin showers, not that it's near Franconia Notch

There is a commercial campground/general store near Notchland in Crawford Notch that used to let outsiders take showers, forgot the name though

How about a dip in Profile Lake or Harvard Falls (I've done both)?

Call the Best Western "White Mountain Resort" motel at Exit 38, I-93, in Franconia, and see if they still sell the $5 non-guest day pass for the pool, sauna, shower, etc., with free towels. Until about yesterday, this place was called the Franconia Village Hotel, the day before that it was The Red Roof, I believe. Whatever the current name, it's at Exit 38, on the east side of I-93. It would be far superior to local campgrounds and Profile Lake, where you would not want to be using soap.

Lyons still open!

Yes, Lyons is still open! We have a reservation for friday nite. I talked to them last week and there are some changes taking place, but the bunk rooms will continue to be available! Hope this helps! stu
