Huge thanks to Bryan for the beta on conditions out there. We drove in Morton Cutoff, hit the berm of snow on Tim Pond Road but were able to drive past it in Jason's pickup. Easy going from there up to mile marker 22 on Wiggle Brook but with the heavy snow coming down we figured a simple hike of Snow would be good, we were very wary of getting stuck out there in the storm. We were both a bit anxious with driving on the snowmobile path but most snowmobilers didn't seem to take issue. We would have loved to add a few other mountains to the itinerary today but we felt it prudent to just get one and get the heck out of there. Jason had a better gps track than me so I asked him to lead since I wasn't sure how I'd be doing after a 30 mile day and only getting 4 hours of sleep. Jason wanted to get out of the logging roads asap with a good 5" of powder already on the roads so he charged up the northern approach and picked an excellent line. Signed in at the canister and hauled downhill and got back to the car in about 80 min total. Compared to yesterday this was almost as relaxing as an afternoon at the beach! We did the hike in snowshoes and there was already lots of drifting in the open woods. I suspect it may be tough or impossible after the storm to get past the berm on Tim Pond Rd from Morton Cutoff but perhaps it will still be passable from the East?? Here's hoping...
Thanks for the fun ride in the truck Jason!
