traditional travel

Any other comments? I guess the main thing I would like is to get off away from everyone and (quietly) enjoy some wilderness that would otherwise be inaccessible.

:D

Would you consider travelling by dog sled ??
I'm curious about it.
I think it would fit well with traditional values of what multiple use is all about.... long before the invasion of motorized everything and all that goes with that.

I would absolutely like the idea of dog sledding. However I think I could never take care of a pack of dogs and the transport to snow rights-of-way would be much worse than throwing a snow machine in the back of a pickup. The problem is the trade off is one of a more nature friendly mode vs. a much higher maintenance effort. The comparison of say skiing vs. showmobiling is of course much more attractive.

opps .. I didn't realize you were thinking of actually buying a snowmobile, I was thinkng of signing on with people who would offer dog sledding trips.

To me the comparison , with a snowmachine would be ...would you use a dirt bike to access a trail head in the other seasons for peakbagging.
Both could be transported in a pick-up, driven some place then driven from there.. increasing your impact to the surroundings probably more than you ever have before in your life.

Each person, of course, has to determinee how justifiable our impact to our environs we are willing to have in pursuit of our hobbies.

Here in the "States" we are already well recognized as being the mass consumers (ok, some would say gluttons) of most everything in the name of pursuing our happiness.
So one may take that into consideration as we make our choices.

(a disclaimer here...that in no way is a political statement and should not be construed as such, thanks)
