Nice! The big ledge where you took the pictures used to be the site of the fire observer's cabin (removed in the early 90's, I think). How would you like to walk out of the house every morning to go to work, and have that kind of view? But you would think twice before going to town and back for groceries!

As a kid I knew someone (old at the time) who had, in his younger years, run supplies up to the ranger on the summit. 80 lb. pack, 3 round trips in a day every few weeks. That's the story and I have no reason not to believe it.

Haven't been there in a long time. Fire tower looks in good shape? I always found those views toward Buell, Panther, and Burgess tantalizing, but never acted on it.

Fire tower is in great shape! Lots of nice views w/o using it as well, would highly recommend this hike!
