Solo hike Saturday, March 26. When I say solo, I mean solo. Did not run into anyone all day, lots of cars in the lot at 19 Mile Brook Trailhead when I got back to my car.

Counter clockwise loop starting with 19 Mile Brook, ending with Imp.

Fabulous day! Crystal clear, no wind. The trail was very icy in places. I wore Hillsounds for most of the day, never switched to crampons. Because I was alone, I was able to take my time negotiating the ice. Barebooted about the final 1.5 miles on Imp, lots of mud.

There was a large bird - pardon my bird ignorance, I don't know the specie - that pecked at my calves for several hundred feet. He was black and had a red ring around his eyes. He was getting in between my feet and caused a few stumbles. I was getting worried that he would continue to follow when the footing got dicey, but he eventually stayed behind. This was the only bad part of my day, but he was just doing his job, protecting his 'hood.
