Spring Skiing on the West Side - 4/3/2010

Beautiful day on the west side of Washington. I've never skied from the summit sign to my car before, in shorts and a t-shirt.

Wow, these are impressive. I'm surprised how much snow remains up there, thanks to our super warm temperatures. Washington was easily visible on Mt Major, despite the haze.

No, I've skied off the hut before.

Time up involved a few detours and ski descents elsewhere. Summit to car was a bit over an hour.

Dave, excellent video. Two editing points that I really enjoyed: 1) keeping the original sound from the video clips and letting it ride right along with the music, and 2) having your final ski out to the lot coincide with the end of the song. And finally, good job with the steady hand while shooting the video; that sounds so simple to say, but so many people don't do it and their videos come out jumpy. Nice job.

God bless Jerry and those who share him! I've never heard this particular performance, but I'm reasonably sure it's Jerry and David Grisman (with a couple of friends), probably around 1993.

Most compelling piece, sir! Those upper snowfields look heavenly!
