Congrats to Stev-o for reaching his 115th Northeast 4000' peak on North Brother !

five of us spent four nights in Baxter State Park, setting up basecamp at a South Branch Pond tentsite in late september

we ate like kings, got a few great day hikes in, and had a great time

day hiked the Travelers loop the first day from our tentsite ... one of the many highlights of the day came when we spotted a black bear walking around on South Branch Mountain's ledges

foliage was in season, making great eye candy everywhere

so many great things to see along the Travelers, that one of us called this hike, "the hike that keeps on giving"

next morning we set out to hike the Brothers loop, starting from Marston Trailhead, over Coe to the Brothers on a perfect sunny day

incredible views everywhere ... we heard a loud rumble while hanging out on South Brother, and looked across the Klondike into Witherle Ravine, where a huge rock slide came tumbling down

reached North Brother, Stevo's 115th Northeast 4ker, and hung out for a while before deciding to save Fort for another trip

seemed fitting to hike the Brothers on this trip, as Dave, Deano, JC and Stevo have been like Brothers to me for years

day hiked South Branch Mountain from our tentsite the third day, looping around the ponds

cruised home the next day, grabbing dinner at Muddy River Smokehouse in Portsmouth ... good meal to wrap up a great trip with great friends

Congrats Stev-o....I think the first 4ker we hiked together was Whiteface on 4/24/1993 with Bonz (R.I.P. Bonz), however, we may have bagged a few back in 1992 prior to the Tripoli chainsaw incident.

What a long strange trip it's been! We've certainly seen some whacky sh!t out there.

Congrats Stev-o! September was a while away...do you or any of you remember much about this trip? :D

3rd times a charm

After being denied this peak twice before,it finally happened. This is a record for me. Over 2100 miles driven to attain one peak but, worth every mile/minute of it.Of course I was fortunate enough to do many other fine hikes in BSP along the way.

BSP is truly a special place, and what better way to wrap-up a list than with great friends on a great peak. Can't wait to get back there, just a pitty it's so dang far away. Then again, that is what probably makes it the "crown jewel" of the northeast for me.

Donna, all I remember about this trip is........beer.
That's what pics/vids are for!
You know how it is, what happens in bsp, stays in bsp. ;)

See you on the trails, Steve-o

The fall BSP trip is always a good "check out" for me. No phone. No blackberry. No beeper. No wife. No kids. Just a bunch of hiking, partyin' crazies one needs every now and then to "reset" !!
