FYI - Neighbor and I just did a little re-con mission up Success Pond Rd. from Berlin to Carlo Col/Goose Eye trail trailhead and it is clear sailing! Little bit icy underneath, but we were in a 2wd truck.
Goose Eye
9am start tomorrow for anyone interested!!
(unbroken) :)

alrighty then!

Thanks for posting the beta on Success Pond Rd Michelle.

We'll probably see you folks somewhere along the way.
Can't guarantee we'll be there to help break trail ;) but will certainly try.

Cheers!

To the smart people who didn't come along............. :)

It was a great hike up until the last 100 yards, trailbreaking was easy (all consilidated) The wind was intense, crampons necessary for the last 100 yrds, the wind pinned Neighbor up against a rock and he could barely stand, frozen fingers and ears, not the place to be yesterday........Maybe Mexico next vacation?! :)

Happened to me up there once too. Reached summit OK as wind was behind, but simply couldn't walk into it and had to crawl back to treeline. Other party members didn't even try.

Maybe Mexico next vacation?! :)
You're just spoiled from PCT :)

...the 10 O'Clock Club made a last minute change of plans and opted for the breakfast at Welsh's then a plan B to Mt Crescent.
Knew that last 100 yards on the Goose was going to be a bear. Just could not muster the moxie.

Met some of yours and Neighbor's friends from the RMC on the way back.
