sweat gets in my eyes

I tried a bandana last weekend while hiking in the southern Presis, and it worked well -- much better than my hat.

Simple solution

Turn head to left...place left eye socket on rounded part of shoulder...rub sweat from left eye...repeat this process with the right side.

If you do this before it gets in your eye you are better off. My shoulders are always nearby (i.e. I haven't been on a hike where I forgot them) and they might as well be as wet as the rest of my body.

The real solution is to do what you do in scuba diving...get salt water in your eyes and desensitize yourself (this works for water in your nose too).
