This is the Forecast from NOAA for central New Hampshire this Friday and Saturday.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 87.

Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 52.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 91.

Amazing!!!

What a load of Hooey!

Nicole and I were hoping to come up to NH Friday/Saturday and get some more "winter sidewalk" conditions for some of our remaining peaks. Looks like it'll be rotten snow instead :-(

PS: Is there any snow left on the ground by your house? We were considering climbing at Rumney this weekend too (on the other hand, the crowds are probably going to be unbearable...)

There's no snow in Rumney. I live across the river from the Rocks - should be good climbing!

Snow has been gone around my house at 800' for two weeks. I did not do any hiking this weekend. I could see Mooselauke while cycling and it had plenty of snow.

I think that's a mistake - NOAA has had a lot of computer glitches lately. I saw 35 degrees with a wind chill of -35 the other day...clearly did not happen
Maybe, maybe not. On Sunday, I took a 48 mile ride around Newfound Lake, the temperature never got over 50 degrees. It was 38 when we started at 10:50 am. Winds were 5-20mph off and on the whole way. It all made for some pretty cold riding, and I felt I was prepared.

Yeah its definitely going to be quite warm this weekend, but I don't know if 90 degrees is that feasible...especially down where I live. We'll prob get a sea breeze that backs all the way into the Lakes Region. Still, that means it will "only" be 75-80.:) Gonna be nice!!

I've heard from someone much more qualified than I am, that Sunday could be our hot day, possibly in the upper 80s in southern NH.

John, April Fool's jokes are considered 'gauche' if issued too early! :D :p

As of 3:25 this morning, the high for Saturday is forecast to be 78 degrees. Still pretty toasty for early April.

Does anyone out there know how to put a superscript "O" to designate degrees, into text?

On a Mac, it's option-0 (option-zero), to get the º symbol.

78° - ALT + 0176 (on a Windows computer).
On a Mac, it's option-0 (option-zero), to get the º symbol.
Those are two different symbols and display differently on my computer:
The first is octal 260 = decimal 176 = hex B0 = DEGREE SIGN
The second is octal 272 = decimal 186 = hex BA = MASCULINE ORDINAL INDICATOR

(Translations from "man iso_8859-1" in Linux.)

You're right. Apparently it's shift-option-8 (unconfirmed, the Mac is at home) to get the degree symbol. I guess I was feeling overly masculine and ordinal. I believe what I posted is the interior operator in topology (so sayeth Wikipedia).

On Linux it should be COMPOSE-o-o to get ° but it depends on your key mapping. Generally, I write it in HTML so it's °

try this on PC
---type your number,say 78
--for the "degree" symbol, while holding down the "Alt" key, type 0176 on the numeric keypad (not the numbers at top of keyboard), release the "Alt" key--wala, simple, works :)
