I enjoyed this hike. A couple tid bits...

This area is majorly trompled. Many people are hiking Red Rock ravine and it's not as isolated as one might think.

The confluence is between 2800' and 2900'.

The slide above the pond is relatively recent and as loose as a goose in places.

Last week the water supply was a sparse as I've ever seen it. Guyot campsite water supply was less a trickle than it's usual trickle. Recent rain may have improved the situation.
Yeah, I heard the place is riddled with quicksand and man-eating plants. Avoid at all cost.

Didn't some young guy who posts here from time to time write a for-pay article (w/ pics) a while back that got put in backpacker or the AMC mag? That might explain the "trompling..."

yea - something about getting chased by a moose or something. I vaguely recall that.
It was MattL. I think he might have actually been eaten by a moose last I heard.

Naw, it must have been someone else, because I thought I remembered seeing, in, I guess it would have to have been the AMC mag (cause i never got Backpacker), a sort of "this is a great place you need to go to..." type article - as opposed to a "wow, you won't believe what happened to me - and I survived..." type article, unless he re-wrote a tamer version for AMC. BTW, i do remember those other TALL tales now that you mention them... :D

It was in the first edition of "50 More Hikes" but I hear it's been deleted

Obfuscation is way

Shhhhh.... Don't tell anyone. :D

I'm with ya there...ALL ABOUT obfuscation of the little known for preservation purposes...

I hiked in "Kcorder Enivar" last week and it sucked. Don't go there!

Hmmm, My spell checker just locked up on "majorly trompled". :p :)

Oh, yes, er, um, "trompled"...a new word...an extreme case of "tromped" with some "trampled" thrown in for good measure. Either way, it's not good.
