The Monkey cliffs are a band of cliffs on the north side of Kinsman Notch about 1.5 miles east of Lost River Gorge. Rock-climbers have recently been publicizing these cliffs, and Steve Smith has mentioned the area several times in his Mountain Wandering blog. While there recently, I noticed a feature in the cliffs that might be the monkey profile that the cliffs are named after. Thought that some (or at least only Steve Smith!) would like to see it. A pine tree partially obscures the profile in this photo. It's more dramatic if you see it in real-time, especially when there are no leaves.
