June and me headed up the Valley Way trail to Madison hut where we would then head up Mt. Madison first, drop back to the hut and continue on to Mt. Adams. Forecast was for a decent Presi day. We certainly got that Presi day but we also got to see the yin and the yang of weather in the Whites. First it's clear and then it's cloudy. First it's calm and then it's windy. Typical White Mountain weather that we all know and love.

Approaching Madison Hut where the winds are fairly calm.

June nearing the summit of Madison where it's mostly clear skies.

Having left Madison and heading to Adams, the clouds are starting to roll in.

And now it's socked in as we near the Airline trail junction.

It's still a beautiful day though.

Heading up Adams with the wind starting to pick up and the blowing snow filling in footsteps within minutes.

Approaching the wind zone with the summit of Adams in sight.

And now we have wind and blowing snow. Fun stuff!

On the summit of Adams where it's now just windy with some views now that the clouds have broken up. Who is this masked woman?

Starting our descent and looking back at Madison where the skies are opening up.

We descended via the Airline trail which has tremendous views into King Ravine. June got to do some butt sliding and we enjoyed a quick trip out. Just another fantastic day in the Whites.

I don't know if you're a professional photographer, but your pictures are amazing. I love the composition in your shots, and that one picture of Madison Hut with the sign in the foreground already has me itching to go hiking again (and I just got back from a trip last night...).

Thanks for sharing!

What A Way To Finish!

John,
You out did yourself with those incredible shots! Congratulations on the Single Season Winter 4K completion!

Mike

I have to agree with everyone else who has commented - some remarkable pictures! I especially like the second-to-last one. Thanks for sharing.

Another great photo trip report!! Did you manually control the shutter speed to get that great pic of June in the blowing snow??

I'll 3rd, 4th or 5th the, outstanding photos John. It was great running into you and June at the hut. Crazy day up there for sure. Do you mind my asking what camera you use?

Concur with the others. I especially loved the ground blizzard shot, with those big chunks of snow flying. Experienced that first hand on Sunday! Thanks for sharing John and June.

Regards,
Marty

P.S. Nice meeting you on West Bond about 5 weeks ago!

Hey John, great pictures as always! Love the blizzard in blue sky, really captures the feel of the moment. Not quite as nice as the day we were up there:) but with a bit more drama. I guess Congratulations are in order for your single season finish?! Well done! :D

Agree with the "crowd" -your pictures are more than being in the right place at the right time. But what a right place you two picked.

John... as everyone has already said... Congratulations on your finish.... and the photos are very nice. My favorite is the shot of June in the ground blizzard :)
