ice climbing

i was signed up for the class w/ kitty calhoun but had to drop out due to some health problems - i was really bummed! i took a beginner day class last winter w/ my friend ian osteyee (adk mountain guides) - although my climbing for the day was limited to a smaller climb i had a blast! i've been trying to get out and take another class this winter but the time is just flying by. hoping to go up the wkend of 19th and give it a go. ian spent an afternoon climbing w/ yates during the festival- i joked about his watching to see if yates was carrying a knife ...
for anyone who currently climbs - what are some of the better top rope climbs to practice on? is there anything around albany, maybe up around thatcher? it would be nice to have something to practice on a little closer to home.
