That's exactly how he planned to do it. I'll try to dig up the exact quote tonight. There was an old DOC cabin on the spot, many years ago. The shelter was built in the 70's, so the cabin dates from the 40's I think.
Impressive, but it was basically an advertising stunt (May 14, 2005)...maybe impossible during korea but not now
