I plan on doing the Osceola's and parking at the Mt Osceola Trail on Tripoli. If we were to do the loop all the way to the Greeley Ponds Trail and to the Livermore trail, how far is it back to the road? Anybody done this?

Check out Mohamed's peakbagging site. He lists the loop as 9.8 miles with a 3100 foot elevation gain, and adds the road milage as 2.8 miles, without a car spot.

His site has useful information on routes to the 4000 footers.

If I were doing this loop, I think I'd choose to do the road walk first, to get it out of the way.

I have done variations of this loop hike several times (usually adding stuff to it). If you want to make this loop a little easier, you could spot a bike(s) at the Osceola TH on Tripoli Road, drive to the Livermore Road TH and begin your hike from there going up the Greeley Ponds Trail first. After going over E. Osceola and Osceola, once you get back to Tripoli road it's a 2.8 mile bike ride ALL downhill... :)

Frodo I like your idea

If I had a bike it would be perfect! But I think I'm just going to go out and back, even though I really do like loop hikes. I am going to a George Carlin concert that night so its best I keep the hike as short as possible. I need to be awake so I can laugh! Thanks for the idea though, maybe next time! :D

Definitely, if you want to be fresh, don’t do the loop!

The Biking idea given by Frodo is something that I hadn't thought about and sounds like a great idea. Something I will definitely try at some point, now that 'I've' thought about it :)

Note: I've been on this road, uphill, and it is quite hard to see into the setting sun. I imagine this might be even worse as the sun gets lower in fall, not sure. Drivers BEWARE
