Being a New England transplant in Georgia I either had to learn how to deal with the heat or stay inside for 3 month a year. Well common sense prevailed and I am constantly out, mostly mt. biking, now.

I find myself constantly drinking either water or tea (I am in the south now) and when I am mt biking making sure I am well hydrated before I head out. I carry one bottle in the cage and a 100 oz. bladder with additional water in the car just in case. I am constanly sipping water every 10 or so minutes. Depending on the temp, this is enough water for at least 2 hours. This morning I did 12+ miles in 95 degree weather.

Another rule of thumb, PEE SHOULD BE CLEAR! This is a sure way to make sure you are hydrated. Learned that in the Army.

I have one of those yellow Katydin water bottles with the filter in it. I haven't really used it yet, but it should be a good alternative to either using tablets, or doing nothing for treating stream water.

Just picked up a couple packs of snacks from Japan - called "Nuts & Fish". Basically salted peanuts and dried guppies  - I have a feeling I won't be asked to share these on the trail..

Don't be so sure. ;)
