This weekend, with a couple hours of time on my hands and a boiling hot December day, I took the kids on a different kind of woods hike. We decided to explore the deeply urban hiking trails of Piscataquog River Park in Manchester.
This is what we found: www.ekpadventures.com
Hope you all enjoy something far, far away from the pristine solitude of the Whites!

Thanks Grouse... there's a lot to explore along that river. I've followed a trail in the other direction all the way up to Goffstown last year. Are you up that way?

I ride my mtn bike down the rail trail from Goffstown to that park sometimes. There are some fun mandatory air features that have been built in the woods off the trails in the Piscataquog River Park.
Another similar urban park in Manch with a nice trail for a hike is Stark Park

Nah I live up in Lebanon now. Back when I was a kid my father and I fished a section in...New Boston maybe? Can't remember exactly, but it was a really pretty stretch of river.

Surf - I kicked around down in Stark Park last fall and a had a ball down by he river there as well. Several well made river swings along that path! Maybe I'll do a follow up!
Becca - Thanks! Just trying to figure out ways to get i the woods close to home!
Grouse - Maybe I'll do a trail report for the north section toward Goffstown. They've done a lot of rail to trail work up there lately as Surf knows riding the bike on it!
