Hum, I know some people who work at Great Glen Trails and the Auto Road. I know they allow people to camp in the fields sometimes for events, and re-enactments etc... I have volunteered for the bike race and the run enough times to get some payback... Going out for dinner with them on Wednesday, I will see about getting some sort of gig right there at the base.
I believe they own a few very large party tents as well.

I would definitely be up for a MW trip in Sept. Great Glen sounds like a grreat location,if you could pull it off Christine.
What about Barnes Field?

Do we have an actual date? Will I actually attend?? Maybe this is the year...

I'd be up for a Washington Trip or Isolation in the fall if later in the year, heck why not both

Not as of this point. In that it apprears that we are keeping this in the Northeast (or southeast CDN ;) ) we should stay with our usual plans that have this outing around the second or third weekend in Sept. Mike, if you do attend, we won't know it! :p

Christine - very interesting! I have also been in touch with a contact to further investigate the idea of securing a ski lodge type property, and am told that this (or choice of them) is very likely available. One of the choices may be a lodge with camping space on the river. IMO, what makes this good is that we have a place for Grey Knob and the Bluffs, should they wish to appear for our entertainment. (Did I mention indoor plumbing, kitchen for food prep, etc?) In looking, I'm trying to find a place that is remote enough to not disturb neighbors, etc. and also central for hiking destinations.

Seems the way this works is they charge a per night fee -- not any different than campgrounds. As I gather more information, I'll keep things posted and we'll see what makes sense.

Nadine, I think Quebec is a great idea for next year!! New decade in a new country.

Quebec maybe?? We have quite a few Canadians on the forum....would be nice to travel to a foreign country for a gathering :D :D

Parc Forillion would be nice for a sea kayak gathering! :D

I think the VfTT Kayak gatherings shall be a separate entity! With Darren in Hawaii, we should hold it out there... :)
