I saw a thread here a few days ago about ways to get involed in volunteer trail work. (Thread seems gone now!)
The most recent Friends of Baxter newsletter lists several Park-sponsored trail work events you can get involved with. These sessions are free! And BSP provides tools, any training needed, and free accommodations at some cool locations in the Park.
Upcoming projects include:
June 19-25 - Chinmey Pond Trail. Long bridge reconstruction. Stay ar Roaring Brook. 4.4M RT hike to work site.
June 22-29 - Wassataquoik (Wa-sawta-cook) Lake Trail. Bog Bridge work. Walk 8M in to leanto basecamp (on lake?). Minimum committment 4 days.
July 17-21 - Sentinel Mtn Trail. Deck Bridge const. Stay at Kidney Pond.
July 27-Aug 3 - Hunt trail. water bar and stone stair const. Stay at Kidney Pond. Minimum committment 4 days.
