The USFS will be conducting a public meeting to discuss a current project that evaluates recreation and other topics in the Waterville Valley area. One of the topics is a proposed mountain bike trail system in and around the Smarts Brook area and Sandwich Notch road. The project is being proposed by the Pemi Valley NEMBA organization. Currently there is coordinated effort with the USFS Pemi Valley district managers to do light maintenance on the existing trails that are under the proposal scope. The trails are and will remain multi purpose and would provide close to 20 miles of additional hiking ,biking and winter activities to the area. Full disclosure I am a member of he NEMBA chapter but I am also a long time backpacker and back country skier. If you currently recreate in the area and want to learn more or participate in the process please attend the meeting. The meeting details and an overview of the project are in this link. We look forward to participation from all user groups. Thanks.
