I ended up with a week off suddenly and have thought I may do a presi traverse. I have somewhat planned this out before but I want to get some input from people who have done the route I am thinking of.

I plan on N to S going up to Madison via the valley way. Then follow the gulfside trail to Westside trail to crawford path to webster cliff and out to 302. I plan to summit Madison, jefferson, Monroe, Franklin, Eisenhower, pierce and Jackson. I am skipping washington and adams because I have done them a few times already and I need these others for the list.

I hike slow( easily distracted) so I do not plan to do this in a day, I was thinking two days.

Any suggestions for campsites along the way? I would prefer to camp by myself versus staying at the hut.

Thanks
Ron

There are lots of good threads about Presidential Traverses on this site. You might want to take a quick look through the archives for some of the longer threads.

Your best bet is to camp at the Perch on day one. No other option really works better. You get to stay high, have available water, and it makes it easy to get out early for day two. Since you're not doing Washington once you get past Jefferson and cross the Westside trail it's a fairly easy day, relatively speaking.
