Once a year an occasion comes around that is special, like a holiday. In fact we usually plan a vacation around it and like a holiday sometimes the anticipation for this occasion is just as intense as say, Christmas Day when you're six years old. So, every year we put aside some time and we go up to the mountains and meet with many wonderful people we have made friends with over the years and we celebrate this occasion in a special way. Like so many monks making an annual pilgrimage to a much higher peak in a much more remote place, we hike to the summit of Mount Washington. I think I can speak for each person who has made this journey that what you bring away from it is, above all that goes with it, a renewal of spirit through a feeling of accomplishment and purpose.

About ten years ago we began frequenting http://www.mountwashington.org/ to check weather conditions for our hikes into the White Mountains. Like a seed planted, things blossomed out into memorable, outlook changing experiences at the top of the mountain. Through these experiences relationships were made and friendships forged. Over the years the roots of this once tiny seed have grown strong and the branches have reached out in many directions and found new avenues. Like trees, we are routed to the earth, but yearn for the sky. What we have learned we can do to show our appreciation is make this annual pilgrimage to raise funds for this very useful non-profit during their annual Seek the Peak Hike-a-thon Fundraiser.

Once again many of the wonderful people we have reached out to with our branches have reached back with theirs and joined us by supporting our fundraising efforts. Once again we have exceeded our goals. To this we would like to extend a very warm thank you, it is truly appreciated! It is hard to say what a great time it was seeing you all, and only wish that it hadn't been so brief. Thanks again to all who made generous monetary donations and thanks to all who donated friendship, trailside and fireside! Like little kids after Christmas morning we are already thinking about next year!

@ Scott- Freeeeedommmm!!!!!

@Bobby-We actually hiked the day before on Friday, but both of us thought, "We're going to miss seeing Bobby this year!" You're hiking for a great cause yourself that day. Maybe next year you can stay with us at MB for the weekend.

@Tony- Does that say cocktail kilt? See you there!
