Although a lot of the snow is gone on the slabs there still remains significant ice in various locations along the loop. Carole mentioned in another thread that people tend to think winter is over and do not carry the appropriate traction devices with them. This is a stark reminder that snow and ice are still present in the mountains.
 
Wow. I hope that person ends up ok in the long run (being able to hike again). I've done that loop 5 times, and I can see how easy it can be to slip and cause a serious injury. There are some pretty short, but steep pitches along that route.

Thank God there were others around to help. I've done that trail many times and even during the warm months it's not to hard to slip on those smooth ledges, even with good hiking boots. I also hope this guy makes out alright and is able to return to hiking.
 
Well I hope he becomes a member real soon so that we can hear the whole story! Hope he heals ok. My wife broke her femur in a car accident over a year ago and still has problems.
