Having read the trail report section, as well as talking to a fellow hiker today at the climbing gym, it appear that the Owl's head trail is being dismantled, anyone know what the reasoning for this is?

All the other 4k's have trails, why eliminate this one, or is there going to be a rerouting, and does this new summit have anything to do with it. I was actually planning to hike Owl's Head, as a loop with the Bonds, South Twin and Galehead this weekend, but not sure I want to be looking for trailheads and whatnot, and ive been having stream crossing concerns, with this week's weather, especially solo.

Who knows what I will do, but, it def is a weird situation over there, maybe thats a reason to do that peak.

Just to be clear, there is no official trail to Owls Head, it is a well established but unofficial herd path. What has been removed are the directional cairns and summit sign, which were deemed to violate the Wilderness guidelines. The other thread covers all the details and arguements to and fro.
