I just got my guidelines for the ADK 46'rs, and one of the suggestions was that responsible hikers do not hike in the late fall when the ground is freezing and thawing. This was the first time I had seen this guideline articulated.
What do the folks around here consider the proper fall cut-off to be?
And of course the nice thing about any fall cut-off is that winter and snow are just around the corner . . .
