Well, I guess "they" "checked the box". Are many people who might have an opinion likely to check out the "quarterly White Mountain National Forest Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA)" on a regular basis? Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few folks who are active in this forum who do, but I'll go out on a limb and speculate that it is not widely read.

Would probably take a few hours of some intern's time to reach out a bit, post in this forum and a few others that are more widely read, check back from time to time, and summarize any comment for the record. But that would make some sense, so I expect it will never happen.

When Josh posted that, I scratched my chin and laughed. I have never even heard of that and I highly doubt there are hordes of people rushing to comment on it.

There's some really interesting stuff on there. Like this proposal to ammend the forest plan to allow relocation of trails in Wilderness. Or this plan to develop Fabyans cabin to a rental.

Another one that just popped up is an expansion of Waterville Valley.
I wonder if the Wilderness Trail relocation amendments are directed at trails like the Highwater Trail in the Wild River Wilderness which is chronically destroyed with floods all the time. I breezed through the proposal and I get the impression that is not possible under current regulations. If that was the goal of such a change that would be a positive.

I've only hiked Highwater from Moriah Brook to Black Angel, but I thought the sections of Highwater Trail plagued with washouts were north of the campground, outside wilderness. Though, relocation would probably put it in Wilderness if they move it away from the river any farther between Moriah Brook and Shelburne. Rocky Branch and Dry River could probably also benefit.
