Anyone have favorite breakfast-stops on the way to the trailhead?

Care to share?

I'm especially interested in places on I93, and 16 heading north, and am partial to bacon and egg sandwiches (I know a lot of people stop at the bagel joint off ext 14 in Concord, but bagels just don't do it for me), but I'm probably not the only person looking for a pre-hike fueling station.

Wayne's Market

Wayne's is in North Woodstock. They make muffin or bagel and egg sandwiches with ham, bacon or sausage for $0.99. The deli sandwiches are great to pack for lunch too.

P & H Truck Stop

The P & H Truck Stop is off of exit 17 on I91 in Vermont. I know that's not the interstate you were talking about but should you get the chance to travel up that way they serve a great breakfast. A loaf of their raisin bread is worth picking up for the ride home!

Two:
The King's Corner on Rt. 112 in Lincoln. Excellent expresso and the hiker breakfast is cheap and good.
The Sunny Day Diner on Rt.3, also in Lincoln (if they're open). Try the banana bread french toast. Mind blowing.

Either Dunkin Donuts or Einstein's Bagels in Concord can make you a bacon-egg-and-cheese on a bagel, the former on croissant or english as well.

There are a plethora of fast food stops off the Tilton exit, including McD's and BK's right next to each other.

It's later in the ride, but I like White Mountain Bagel in Lincoln just off the highway.

If you can wait that long in the drive, Peg's in Lincoln opens at 5:30am and has all the breakfast classics for incredibly cheap.

Einstein Brother's in Concord is my favorite -- I meet most of my hiking and skiing buddies there, have an egg-bacon-spinach pannini, drop the extra cars off at the park-and-ride across 93 and head north. Very good coffee too.

Peg's Peg's Peg's

been to the Sunny day, and King's corner. Sometimes good, sometimes NOT. Pegs's is the best, reasonable, fast, very clean. Great service. ALWAYS...

Campton Falls Marketplace (if heading to Waterville Valley)

Route 49 in Campton, about a mile off 93 toward WV (on left at the Campton Dam lights). Sit-down or take-out dining for breakfast or lunch. They also have a good selection of prepared foods you could easily slip in a backpack... nice people... and they have three flavors of jin-u-ine Starbucks on tap, a rarity in these parts.

Fuel up here, and you'll be using your napkin to wipe your chops as you pull into the Livermore Road parking area.

Pinkham Notch and Highland Center

I'm partial to the big, greasy breakfast buffets that the AMC offers starting at 6:30AM. Monroe's in Twin Mountain is good, but they don't open until 7:30 or so, when I'm already on the trail.

My vote is for Peg's. Where else can you get two eggs over easy, corn beef hash, two pancakes and coffee for five bucks?? (and it seems like alot of food but the portions aren't oversized so its a pretty good ration for prehike!)

Yeah, I work at night, so if I get going right after that to hike, I don’t bother with breakfast. I just go home, brush my teeth, grab my stuff, and go.

Except once when I stopped at the McDonald’s in Gorham before heading over to climb Old Speck, but that was mainly to pee and break up about a four-hour ride.

Peg's sounds good, but where exactly is it?

Peg's sounds good, but where exactly is it in North Woodstock? I looked Peg's up on Google and all they have is Main Street and PO Box for address. What's it near? How many miles from intersection with Rt 112?

The 5:30 opening time sounds helpful for us earlybirds.

You can measure that distance in feet, not miles. :)

From 112, turn north at the traffic light onto 3. Pegs is in the big red building, second one on the left. Parking lot just before it, plus all the on-street spaces.

coffee bean

the "coffee bean" in twin mountain, yummy breakfast and lunch sandwiches on fresh baked bagels and croissants.
