I'm thinking of doing the Zealand to Lincoln woods traverse with my sister Thursday. Our route would go over the Bonds to scratch Zealand and West Bond off my list, and maybe Hale as well, before the road closes in September if we're feeling ambitious.

My question is...Is the spur trail to zeacliff pond worth the side trip? The book says Twinway goes up the side of a ledge where you can view the pnd from above. Is this adequate or is it really worth the trip out and back? Keep in mind this would be a 19.7 mile day, or 21.6 if we do Hale as well.

Regardless of the overall length of your trip, the trip down to Zeacliff Pond is certainly worth it. It is an easy side trip and has some interesting views beyond the pond.

You are talking about a minute or two out of the way. It's a pretty neat pond.

Alright sounds good....maineguy,nice avatar its pretty funny and very original

The pond itself is little more than a marshy area with a covering of water but it is a nice place to look around. The view from the ledge above is restricted by trees so you won't really get a good sense of the pond unless you go down to the shore. I didn't even see the pond until my third trip to the area and that was only because I made the effort to look for it from that ledge.
