FYI, I get these emails from time to time since I'm a trail adopter. I got this one just a few minutes ago:

"The U.S. Forest Service will be reconstructing
the Zealand Bridge at the Route 302 entrance to the Zealand Road
starting Sept. 6, 2005. This construction is expected to take at least
4 months and will result in the closure of the entire Zealand road to
public vehicle traffic. Zealand Falls hut will remain on full-service
through October 15, 2005.

The bridge closing means that you will need to park in the winter
parking lot on the north side of the road and slightly east of the
junction. There will be a 20-foot stream crossing (normally
ankle-deep, but may be deeper in wet weather) to bypass the construction at the beginning of your hike to Zealand Falls hut. You may then walk the
road to the the Zealand Trailhead and then to the hut (total distance
approximately 6.3 miles), or take advantage of a shuttle
to the trailhead.

I believe you can get times of the shuttle service from AMC. They were included in the email but when I went to cut and paste it, it came out in a jumble.

If you recall this was originally scheduled for last year but didn't happen.

Shuttle? The AMC? They're keeping a vehicle stuck on the other side for four months? And carrying cans of gasoline over there to keep it running?

Yes, I'm perplexed too. Sounds so un-AMC like...
