was the lower/middle section of this trail re-routed away from the river in the past few years? sure seemed different to me yesterday a.m. (but maybe i was just feeling the effects of a late night before).

It was rerouted, but a considerable time ago. The ski trail continues straight in the winter, but in the summer it's a nasty wet bog and so the hiking trail diverges up and to the west. This is the region where the footing is a lot of rock-steping.

Funny you say that! We usually get up there every other year or so, and went last week.
I commented to my husband that it looked "different" - we decided it was because the water in the beaver ponds was so high.
