    thanks for the greenie Jason..I hope you and your enjoy Sugarloaf as much as I have..some of the sites near Zealand road a little open but the majority quite private and quiet with only the sound of the river which i suspect is roaring away this year..Looking forward to my stay there as well

    Your comments about the winter wrrens' song are fighting words for some....There a few on VFTT who think it is the lovliest sound in the mountains....
    I will let you focus on the bird songs....Bicknells' sounds like some one running a mallet up and down a glockenspiel.

    Did you have fun at the reunion? Did the class of '79 behave? (that is my brothers class and it marred the reputation of ST. JA as fine upstanding educational establishment.
    Hi Jason. The first picture is a Serviceberry or Shadbrush shrub that in this case was about 15 feet high.
    I Roped my neighbor into coming. He is an inshape 72 year old. Did the AT about 14 years ago. 7am is his prefered time.

    How about tools. I have a two man log carrier, hand saw (I had a post on it) and a very sharp adz. I have never been a fan of axes but I have one.

    Well can't call most of them peaks. I have Mt Martha on the Coos trail, Nancy Pond and Amoonusuck Ravine starting around the falls. Julie Hart gave me some sweet spot.
    Good post JB. It's terrible what they are doing to that mountain range. All in the name of getting attention!
