  • Amen...and while I may have opinions on this and all sorts of stuff like this, they're simply my opinions and I've learned to keep them to myself unless someone really, REALLY wants to know. A few days ago going up Moosilauke for sunset photography some guy heading down the trail gently -- but seriously -- chastised me for going up top with so little daylight left. Sigh...I smiled and bid him "good day, sir"...
    Trish,

Thank you for the kind words, and for the green square! It was an outstanding day!
thank you for the greenie..glad to see that you and both the girls are getting out there
Trish -- thank you very much for the green square. Remember, if your schedule permits, you're welcome to come along on any of these hikes.
Thanks Trish. It's a very intense experience up there alone in a near total white out. Your body almost tingles. Afterwards you can say: that was fun, but in the midst of it "intense" is the only word to describe it.
Thanks for the greenie Trish! Thought alot about the contrast with our overnight out there as I was setting up the tent. All good times but its sweet to have the comradery too!
    Anytime!
Hopefully one day I'll get back out. These days I am trying to get used to epilepsy meds, so who knows when I'll be up to doing some bigger hikes. The sooner the better though!
Thanks for the greenie, Trish. Hope you, Sage and Alex are doing well. What a great trio of hikers. Also hope our paths cross some time! Marty
Hmmmmmm...sunset might very well do the trick. That could very well work. On the hike up Madison on Tuesday, I figured out that to get the shots I wanted, I needed to stay on the summit until the sun slipped over the horizon. I'm too chicken (safe?) to go down the Madison summit cone in the dark with just me and my headlamp -- I need a spotter or two near the hut so that I can see the general direction of the trail in the dark. I'd give Alex $20 to hang by the hut with a headlamp and light the way...
We can take Alex with us on a sunrise hike and then have her nap on the summit...? :)

    Seriously, we'll figure this out!
Thanks, Trish, for the seal of approval...I'm headed back up there a few more times this winter, if you're still interested in either sunrise or sunset.
It definitely was deserved. Both for all your concern about what happened on this trip and for the wonderful outdoor lives you are giving your kids. For that you deserve a bucket of greenies!
Thanks for the green spot, Trish. I grew up Lutheran and beating ourselves up is what we do best -- Jews and Catholics have nothing on Lutherans when it comes to guilt! But anyway, what an adventure you had with Alex on the same day, wow. I'll have more to say about that elsewhere, but I am so, so happy no one was hurt. Sometimes it seems we have to learn our lessons the hard way, I guess.
Hi Trish, I've been thinking about bringing the kids up Kearsarge or something in the Belknap range and I may start them off on the NH firetower quest program.
