  1. Barkingcat

    New overnight adventure

That option has worked well for me before. (And, while some may grumble about the stretch of the Twinway between South Twin and the hut, I don't think it's that bad.)
  2. Barkingcat

    DVD recommendation

You can stream it, but not rent it -- the DVD of this is not out yet, with no release date listed.

Warthog flyovers are always cool. Well, unless you're the target.

    Guyot Shelter?

(I'm slightly off-topic here, but) Thanks for doing that and reporting this -- I wondered what, given your recent Pemi traverse, your impression of the walls might be once you saw them.

    Moderately-paced Pemi Loop - 8/21

Very nice, Dave! I like the line about "****, I managed to sleep through my alarm"... I've done that before when planning an early-morning hike.

    Sunrise on Lafayette...

Salge-ian photography is always a delight for the eye. Thanks for posting these here... While Nos. 1 and 2 and wonderful for their color, the Greenleaf hut shot I like for the story.

    Guyot Shelter?

No; not with one car -- unless you want to do an in and back and go insane because of the monotony that can be Lincoln Woods.
  15. Barkingcat

    Guyot Shelter?

Agreed -- or Galehead hut. We stayed at Galehead hut one evening a few years ago, did the Bonds and then Zealand, chilled at the Zealand hut for a bit and then hiked out to our car at the Zealand Trail trailhead. (We would have thrown in Hale, but ran out of nice daylight.)

Mt. Whitney ~ our first 14,000-footer!

Those oversized pancakes are pretty wacky... (Nice TR!)

Did you find any of the old (circa 1940) signs in the sag between Bald Knob and Crosby? There are a couple at the trail junction that joins the route over Bald Knob with the route that parallels Wise Brook (that leads to the south, just east of Bald Knob). Neat stuff...I think that the signs...
