There is a storm tomorrow into Friday that may have some snow mixed in the higher elevations in MA/VT and the Catskills. How much remains to be seen (it may be just a little, or more, or might be different in different parts of the area).

There was talk of changing that to 12" at one point, but as far as I know it was never officially done.

Doesn't seem that it would be that difficult, given that the stores are not huge and now with just seven of them, a couple large trucks could fill all of them pretty quickly. Not like trying to get hundreds of Rite Aid stores restocked ;)

Plus, about that same distance in another direction is Colonie Center, which has both an existing LL Bean and a recently opened Sierra store side by side. Probably not good for EMS, but good for those looking for items in being able to compare and shop at multiple options in a fairly small...

The website is working again - that shows 21, but does NOT show the one in Albany that was closing (at first to move across the plaza) so that may be moderately accurate (maybe the post above got the number reversed?).

Perhaps that would be a reason to bike at the beginning (much like many recommend parking at the end of the hike and getting a shuttle ride to the start)? That way, after the hike you have a little drive to pick up the bike, but not the issue of it having gone missing when you need to ride back...

The Berkshires have a (moderate) bus system (moderate for a smaller area, not like what would be found in Boston). Unfortunately, they have had issues getting drivers, so it may vary in availability. Normally, the map looks like it would be accessible from Route 2 in North Adams and Route 8...

Along with any additional mental stress when/if parts of that 52-mile course are shared with others (seeing as how Queens is not exactly the Adirondacks or the Catskills, so it seems difficult to have a 52-mile route that doesn't interface with traffic at least one or thirty times) :)
