A rescue and near rescue on Mt Washington

Mixed bag, climbers with gear in one party, and a trail runner with inadequate gear for the second. The downside to the fast and light approach. Party one probably would have made it, but party 2 was a few steps from a body carry.

This is why one should bring snowshoes when venturing above treeline this time of year.

I wonder if the trail runner is going to continue running above treeline in life threatening conditions?

With ice climbers that ain’t gonna happen!

No mention is made of compass use for nav. In IFR conditions at the top out of a climb it can come in handy. Nothing like a map with a few bearing lines drawn on it.

The person wallowing was the trail runner; singular they.

It doesn't sound like the climbers ultimately needed assistance.
