The stuff on one of our glass tables was shaking around that time with no discernible reason. A quake would be quite the explanation!

That's right about the time we heard a brief rumble here in the Boston area. I thought it was the neighbors (truck and/or trash cans) but my wife reported that part of the house shook.

Obligatory: http://xkcd.com/723/

4.6 centered below Lake Arrowhead, ME

I thought my house was heading south for the season. Three distinct waves hit the house then about 3-5 seconds of rumbling after the waves. Merrimack Valley, Mass. 4.6 centered at Arrowhead Lake, ME.

Someone has to run up to Arcadia and check on Balance Rock. :D :D :D

That was very noticeable in the NH seacoast region. I'm about 30 miles from Hollis Center.

I felt a vibration in the floor similar to how it feels on the platform next to a very heavy train rumbling by. I'd say it felt sustained for 5-7 seconds maybe.

I felt one in 2010 here as well but this one was definitely more pronounced.

We felt it here in Bridgton but weren't even sure at first if it was an earthquake. We wondered if a jet, perhaps supersonic, had flown overhead, then the phone started ringing with reports from all over. It is true that just a few minutes before, Lauky had started barking seemingly without reason. That may have been just a coincidence.

Felt it here is N central Mass. Lying on my bed balancing my check book. Heard like dull rumbling and slight vibration. Originally thought it was a truck hitting a bump a few streets up. Then the whole bed started shaking. Jumped up looked outside. Thought maybe my parents house had exploded or there was an accident. Nothing. Checked my cellar and barn, nothing unusual there. Called my neighbor and asked her if she felt anything and she said no so I went back to what I was doing. MY neighbor called five minutes later and said they were reporting an earthquake on all the news channels. Thought I was going nuts for a few minutes. First one I have ever felt. Had a sister in law who was visiting from Cal many years ago and she was able to detect any slight tremor. I told her she was nuts one time only to find out on the news that evening that a small quake had occurred. Very strange feeling for sure.

There was one with an epicenter near Berlin NH about 18 years ago. It felt like the entire area was just picked up and dropped. No shaking just one distinct thump. We were in meeting near the Berlin Pulp mill and everyone went over to the window to see if the recovery boiler exploded. The earthquake last evening had distinct shaking.
