This was the second time I did the Elkhorn 50K. The race is held in the Elkhorn Mountains outside of Helena, MT. The first time I ran it in 2002 it was 106 degrees in Helena. This time the temps were in a more acceptable 80's.
I went up Friday evening with my friend Charles Steele who has run the race many times. On Friday we attended the pre-race festivities with pasta party, door prizes and a 1-hr course walk through.
Many people camp at the startiing line since an early start (5am for 50-miles and 7am for 50K).

I will let the pictures tell the story.
