Nice having the peaks all plotted.

So, I doubt I would ever depend on Google Maps for trails data, but it amazing how astonishingly wrong the trails around Mt Garfield/Galehead/Twins/Zealand are.

Not sure why I never noticed this before, since I have been known to use map screenshots as a handy detail that I can then mark-up. I guess I've usually been using the AMC White Mountain Guide Online for those.

There's probably one out there with accurate trails. That'd be nice. If anyone has it, please post a link. I've used my link as quick reference, then gone to the printed maps.

I know you can locate trails, but I haven't seen one map link that is a region that you can zoom to any peak and backtrack trails to trailheads.

Interesting. I never noticed they had trails on there. I wonder where they get the data for those... I know for roads they often get government data, then trace over satellite images to double-check, but trails out here don't show up very well on aerial imagery. Is it possible, Google will someday make hiking maps, too? heh.

I upload GPS tracks on a fairly regular basis to Wikiloc. I use KevinR as the account name. Mostly my tracks are of the southern Sierra Nevada and nearby ranges, and about a dozen hikes (walks) in Ireland.

Wikiloc uses the Google maps.
